Barrett-Jackson to Feature The Laymon Family Collection of 24 Custom, Restored Vehicles Selling with No Reserve During the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – Aug. 20, 2024 – Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, is featuring the Laymon Family Collection of 24 custom and beautifully restored vehicles with No Reserve during the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, presented by Gila River Resorts & Casinos, Oct. 10-13 at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Largely comprised of General Motors vehicles from the 1960s and 1970s, the collection represents the Laymon family’s unique passion for history, restoration and custom innovation. Among the most anticipated vehicles set to cross the auction block from this collection is a custom 1967 Chevrolet Nova (preview) featuring a professionally built Pro-Touring setup.

“The Laymon Family Collection includes some of the most popular GM vehicles on the road during the ’60s and ’70s,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “What really stands out is that this collection represents multiple generations of the Laymon family. Each vehicle offered has been artfully restored or custom-built to reflect the family’s unique passion for the collector car hobby. The collection has countless gems, including three custom 1969 Camaros with modern upgrades inside and out.”

The two 1969 Camaros crossing the block with No Reserve include a custom gray coupe (preview) built over the span of three years by Brand New Muscle Car. This Camaro has a Dynacorn body, is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, and features a custom leather and suede interior, Mercedes carpets, KICKER sound system and a modern radio with Bluetooth. The red Pro-Touring Camaro convertible in the collection (preview) produces 700 horsepower and features a red interior with chrome accents and matching top.

“It’s remarkable to find a collection with so many well-preserved and custom GM models,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “There are also a few surprises for supercar fans, including a twin-turbocharged 2012 McLaren MP4-12C (preview) that rockets from 0 to 60 in under three seconds.”

Two Corvettes from The Laymon Family Collection include a custom 1967 convertible (preview) powered by an LS3 engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Cyber Metallic Gray Corvette features Shark Bite front and rear coilovers, a Stinger hood and a custom tan saddle leather interior. A 1968 Corvette 427/390 convertible (preview) is powered by its matching-numbers V8 engine with 4-speed manual transmission, factory-correct power steering and original smog system.

Iconic vehicles from the collection include a matching-numbers 1957 Bel Air convertible (preview) that received a professional rotisserie restoration and is powered by a Power Pack V8 mated to a 2-speed Power Glide automatic transmission. A 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible (preview) is powered by a 369ci 8-cylinder engine mated to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission and features new BFGoodrich tires on the original SS wheels.

SUVs in the collection include a custom 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer (preview) that underwent a two-year restoration and is powered by a 454ci V8 engine mated to a TH400 automatic transmission. It has a 2-inch body lift and rides on 33-inch tires for added off-road capabilities. A 1988 Land Rover Defender 90 (preview) in the offering was imported from Italy in 2021. This left-hand-drive custom vehicle received a frame-off restoration and is powered by a 2.5-liter turbo-diesel inline-4 engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission with a dual-range transfer case.
